Introduction

Undermine a country’s economy and/or the ability of its government to protect the basic economic and social rights of its citizens. In October over 550 civil society organisations signed an open statement calling for debt cancellation. It is deeply unjust that while millions of people need healthcare and financial support, private lenders like banks and hedge funds continue to rake in profits and refusing to play their part and cancel debt.’
