Abstract
The study was conducted to find out the prevalence of social anxiety disorder in individual using orthotic and prosthetic device. This was a cross sectional survey including total of 267 people using orthotic and prosthetic device, meeting the inclusion and exclusion criteria. All ethical consideration inherent to this research study was ensured. Data was collected by using questionnaire which was The Leibowitz Social Anxiety Scale. The data was analyzed by using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 26. The results showed that out of 267 individuals; 84(31.5%) have no anxiety, 89(33.3%) people have mild anxiety, 39(14.6%) have moderate anxiety, 26(9.7%) have marked anxiety, 22(8.2%) have severe anxiety and 7(2.6%) people have very severe social anxiety after using the assistive device. Study concluded that the people who were using orthotics and prosthetic devices were less prone to social anxiety disorders. In terms of gender, females suffered with anxiety more than males and more anxiety was seen in singles than in married participants. Additional research is recommended by using the controlled group of individuals who do not use assistive technology.
