Introduction

Hypertension is the leading preventable risk factor for premature death and disability worldwide [1]. In 2000 it is estimated that 26.4% of the global adult population, or 972 million people, had hypertension and is expected to rise to 1.56 billion in 2025 [2]. It is responsible for about 6% (9 million) of deaths worldwide [3]. Hypertension is a common chronic medical condition affecting people in Pakistan and the rest of the world [5]. The results from many middle income countries are showing positive association between socioeconomic status and hypertension [12]. In addition to check out the effect of demographic and lifestyle related factors such as age, education, weight, socioeconomic status etc. on prevalence of hypertension
