Abstract

Prevalence of Amenorrhea and Abortion in Spinal Cord Injured Women in Iran Although it has been shown that women with spinal cord injury(SCI) may experience short term amenorrhea in the acute or subacute phase after injury, the hypothalamic-pituitary axis mostly becomes normal through time. It seems that the occurrence of temporary amenorrhea does not affect the age of menopause in these patients. However spinal cord injured patients report lower rates of menstrual cramping, while other SCI-related complications such as increased spasticity, bladder spasm and dysautonomia are reported more frequent.
