Abstract
Background: Injuries occurred in nearly 6 million deaths and 52 million disability-adjusted life years annually, which caused 15% of the global disease burden. More than 90% of this burden occurred in low and middle-income countries (LMICs) where injury control capacity and initiatives are lacking. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study conducted in several hospitals dealing with travelers suffering from injuries. Data were obtained from the medical records which were identified for analysis purposes. 5589 travelers visited the study sites within the 2018-2019 period. More than 12% were admitted. Among those patients, 108 were eligible to be included in this study. Results: Most types of traumas experienced by tourists were closed fractures in as many as 49 people (45.4%). Conclusion: The prevalence of trauma in travelers is still high. Therefore, prevention strategies must be conducted.
