Abstract

A micromechanical pressure sensor based on an interferometric silicon optical ARROW waveguide is examined. The deflection and extension of a suspended waveguide beam due to a uniformly applied pressure is analyzed. The resulting phase change in the propagating wave is characterized in terms of beam length and pressure.
