Abstract

The superconductivity of La 2−xSr xCuO 4 and the phase change from a tetragonal structure to an orthorhombic one are studied under high pressures. The T c of the orthorhombic phase is depressed in comparison with the tetragonal phase. The depression of T c correlates with a change in transport properties between the Cu-O planes, which is caused by a tilt of the CuO 6 octahedron.
