Abstract

Low temperature transport properties of La 1.875Ba 0.125CuO 4 have been studied, in order to elucidate the relation between superconductivity and low temperature structural phase transition. Measurements of the pressure dependences of various characteristic temperatures have enabled us to differentiate the transport anomalies with the structural phase transition from those related with the superconductivity. The normal state transport in the low temperature tetragonal phase has been investigated by use of high magnetic fields, in order to gain insight into the electronic ground state of this phase.
