Abstract

The subject of this research is the fluorescence lifetime of R line (2E→ 4A2 transition) in MgO:V2+ under high pressure. The goal is to obtain experimental results regarding the fluorescence lifetime τ for R line (2E→ 4A2 transition) in MgO:V2+ under high hydrostatic pressure of up to 10.4 GPa at room temperature. The obtained results have shown that pressure of 10.4 GPa induced nonlinear increase of τ, up to value 1.43 times higher than at ambient pressure. The obtained trend was successfully described with a theoretical model presented in the paper. The applied model shows a good agreement between the measured and calculated values of fluorescence lifetime τ.
