Abstract

CR-39 from American Acrylics and Lexan from General Electric were placed in REM AT-100 radon detectors and exposed in a radon chamber. The foils were loaded in Hankins-type ECE cells and warmed in the oven, either dry or filled with presoak solution. The CR-39 showed a 17% increase in sensitivity after a 3-hr water presoak and a 22% increase after an overnight presoak. Lexan showed no sensitivity increase after presoaking in water, ethanol and water and acetonitrile solutions.
