Abstract
One always wonders what to say in this traditional address by the President of SCMLA when the members, who are already weary of speeches, would rather not have their meal garnished with some stale pontifications. Which is more important, tradition or apple pie? The Executive Committee of SCMLA last year voted to do away with the tradition of reading resolutions at the annual meeting. The presidential address remains on the agenda, however; and this is it.
