Abstract

A novel electrostatic self-assembled multilayer film was successfully prepared on quartz and indium-tin-oxide (ITO) substrates by alternating adsorption of [Tb(PMo 9 V 2 O 39 ) 2 ] 15- and a bipolar hemicyanine cation of l,6-bis((E)-4-(2-(4'-dimethylaminophenyl)pyridinum))hexane. The films were investigated by UV-visible spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. The UV-visible spectra showed that the film was uniformly deposited up to at least 12 layers and the charge transfer between two film-forming components might occur in the film. The cyclic voltammetry on the [Tb(PMo9V2039)2] 15- -based multilayer film indicated that the film was electrocatalytically active towards the reduction of bromate.
