Abstract
YBaCuO thick films were prepared by the peritectic reaction of liquid phase + 211 phase → 123 phase. polycrystalline 123 grains were grown on (001) MgO single crystal substrates with a c-orientation. The particle size and distribution of the 211 phase trapping in the 123 matrix could be controlled by crushing and uniform mixing of starting materials. The trapped amount of the 211 phase was also controlled by changing the Y content in Y1+x Ba2Cu3Oy. The formation of the 123 phase on the (001) MgO substrate was discussed in this report.
