Abstract
We have directly synthesized anhydrous cupric chloride single crystals in a pressure vessel in order to oxidise the copper completely. In that way, we have obtained single crystals of a few cm 3. We have measured the magnetic anisotropy of such single crystals which were a few mm 3 in volume.
