Abstract

As an alternative for MTG bulk YBCO we now report some results on MTG bulk Y(Ho)BCO with the well developed melt texture technology by applying precursor with Y1-XHoXBa2Cu3O7.δ (x=0.4) and Y2O3 addition.High zfc levitation forces up to 49N can be measured on the samples, but maximum trapped magnetic fields remain relative low (< 200mT) and field mapping show typically multi-domains within a large single grain. This may due to microcracks that interrupt the current flow through long distances. A reduction of Ho content in the superconducting 123-matrix and phase precipitation inside 211 particles can also be observed.
