Abstract

Samples of γ-Mn 2 O 3 with different iron concentrations were prepared by coprecipitating appropriate amounts of manganese sulphate and ferric nitrate solution in boiling solution of sodium hydroxide. The precipitates were then washed with distilled water to keep them free from adsorbed impurities, and were finally dried in air. The absence of any appreciable sodium content in the precipitate was tested by using a digital flame photometer
