Abstract
Nowadays, the problem of heavy metal pollution is becoming more and more serious, in order to deal with heavy metal ion pollution in wastewater mostly use filtration and adsorption means. In this article, hair-derived carbon materials were prepared from hair by phosphoric acid activation and high temperature carbonization. The adsorption performance of hair activated carbon (AC) was also investigated at different activation temperatures, different adsorption times and temperatures, and initial concentrations of Fe3+ and Cu2+. The results showed that the hair AC obtained at 250 °C activation temperature when the adsorption time of 180 min and the adsorption temperature of 25 °C have good adsorption performance for heavy metal ions Fe3+ and Cu2+ reached 70.57% and 91.11%. The results of the study showed that hair AC can be used as an adsorbent to improve the water quality of heavy metal wastewater.
