Abstract

Preparation of catalyst carriers on the basis of alumina supported on metallic gauzes by electrophoretic deposition was considered. Samples of stainless steel gauzes with the thickness of wire of 50 μm coated with the alumina layer from 1 to 15 μm were obtained. The surface area of the supported alumina determined by the BET method is as high as 450 m 2/g. The acidic properties of the surface sites of the alumina supported on the stainless steel gauze by electrophoretic deposition method were investigated by DRIFT spectroscopy. These properties were shown to be similar to those of the bulk alumina.
