Abstract

To reduce the thermal decomposition temperature of ammonium perchlorate, Copper cobaltate (CuCo2O4) was prepared and precipitate on the surface of AP by liquid deposition method. The performance of specimen were characterized by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscope and fourier transform infrared spectroscop. The self-catalysis of AP/CuCo2O4 core—shell energetic composites was evaluated by differential thermal analysis. The analysis results show that CuCo2O4 was successfully coated on AP surface with good coating effect. And DTA results show that AP/CuCo2O4 core—shell energetic composites have good self-catalysis. When the content of CuCo2O4 in core—shell energetic composites is 6%, it shows the best self-catalytic property, the pyrolysis peak of AP decreased by 194.79 °C, and the heat release of high temperature decomposition peak increased by 773.89 J • g–1. The investigations indicate that AP/CuCo2O4 core—shell energetic composites have shown better catalytic effect than CuCo2O4, and provides a new ideal in the field of soild propellant catalysis.
