Abstract

To reduce the internal temperature of the pavement and alleviate the high temperature disease of the asphalt pavement , three types of pavement bonding layer materials with heat insulation effects were prepared, and the test method of heat insulation performance of pavement heat insulation bonding layer materials was proposed. The cooling effect of the lower surface of the pavement heat insulation bonding layer material was studied under different illumination times . The heat insulation temperature difference between the upper and lower surfaces of pavement heat insulation bonding layer materials were analyzed. On this basis, the bonding performance and aging resistance of the pavement heat insulation bonding layer material were further evaluated, and the best pavement heat insulation bonding layer materials was selected. Results indicate that during 100 min illumination, compared with styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) modified emulsified asphalt, the lower surface temperature of floating beads (FB) bonding layer material, hollow glass beads (HGB) bonding layer material and expanded perlite (EP) bonding layer material can be reduced by 6.6 °C, 4.4 °C and 5.1 °C respectively. When the illumination time reaches 100 min, the order of temperature difference of pavement heat insulation bonding layer materials is FB bonding layer materials > EP bonding layer materials > HGB bonding layer materials, and compared with SBS modified emulsified asphalt, it can increase by 34.46–41.22%. Under different temperature conditions, the bonding performance of the three types of pavement heat insulation bonding layer materials is better than that of ordinary emulsified asphalt bonding layer materials, and compared with ordinary emulsified asphalt adhesive layer material, it can increase by 25%–47.62%. After aging treatment, the bonding performance of the three types of heat insulation bonding layer materials can be reduced by 20%–20.96%, but the bonding performance is still 35.48%–58.06% higher than that of ordinary emulsified asphalt bonding layer materials. Considering the heat insulation effect, bonding performance, aging resistance and economy comprehensively, floating beads are recommended as functional basic materials to prepare pavement heat insulation bonding layer. • The pavement bonding layer materials with heat insulation effects. • The design of novel pavement cooling effect test method. • The cooling effect of the lower surfaces of pavement heat insulation bonding layer. • The preferred material composition of pavement heat insulation bonding layer.
