Abstract

In ceramic production, the finished product is often fragile and defective due to low green strength, which greatly affects the ceramic yield and the preparation of advanced ceramics. It is important to develop a ceramic body reinforcement agent with an obvious reinforcement effect, no impact on slurry properties, low cost, and simple preparation process. In order to solve the above problems and analyze the influence of modification conditions on the green body enhancement results, the properties of three common starches were compared and corn starch was modified by substitution method to prepare a novel starch-based ceramic green body enhancer. The structural characterization and enhancement effect of the modified corn starch prepared by infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis showed that the addition of starch-based ceramic green body enhancer made the green body enhancement rate reach 61% and the mildew resistance increase for more than 4 days. The best preparation conditions for modified starch were soluble corn starch 33.3 g, 85% ethanol solution 300 mL, sodium hydroxide 16.46 g, chloroacetic acid 26.6 g, and reaction at 40 °C for 2.5 h.
