Abstract

The high pure single phase Zn2TiO4 was synthesized by a molten salt method. The influences of the molten salt system and the calcinations temperature on the phase composition and crystalline morphology were studied. The results show that high pure single phase Zn2TiO4 with plate-like crystalline morphology and well-developed faceted surfaces were synthesized at 800–900 °C in NaCl–ZnCl2 salt system when 0–20 % of zinc-bearing raw material is replaced by ZnCl2 salt, which is distinctly beneficial to simplify the composition of molten salt. Compared to the conventional solid phase reaction process, the formation temperature of single phase Zn2TiO4 is lower and the crystal growth is more complete.
