Abstract

Hydrazinium salts of aromatic carboxylic acids were prepared by neutralization of acid with hydrazine hydrate and characterized by analytical, IR spectral and TG-DTA analysis. All the compounds undergo decomposition yielding carbon residue as the end product. The in vitro antibacterial study of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid and its hydrazinium salt against Escherichia Coli have been investigated and the results show that the as-prepared hydrazinium salts have better antibacterial activity than the free acid.
