Abstract

It is an effective strategy to use clay minerals (palygorskite) to prevent the aggregation of molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) nanosheets prepared with hydrothermal process. The palygorskite/molybdenum disulfide (Pal/MoS2) nanocomposites presented notable microwave absorption performances, which can be optimized by adjusting the content of Pal. The sample with optimized composition has a minimum reflection loss (RL) of -59.91 dB at 9.92 GHz at a thin thickness of 2.28 mm, owing to the enhanced interface polarization and improved impedance matching. It is believed that the 2D hierarchically structured Pal/MoS2 nanocomposites can serve as a potential microwave absorber for practical applications.
