Abstract

ABSTRACTWell-dispersed and uniform Mn5O8 nanoparticles were prepared through pulse cathodic deposition followed by heat treatment. Initially, the pulse cathodic electrodeposition was performed and Mn3O4 nanoparticles were prepared. Next, uniform Mn5O8 nanoparticles were obtained through the thermal treatment. The morphological observations by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscope revealed that the product was composed of pure Mn5O8 nanoparticles. The formation of Mn5O8 nanoparticles through the calcination of Mn3O4 nanoparticles as the precursor was studied by thermogravimetric analysis. The results suggested that the cathodic electrodeposition can be considered as a simple and facile route for the preparation of uniform Mn5O8 nanoparticles.
