Abstract
The precursor, Mn0.5Zn0.5Fe2(PhAc)3(N2H4)2 was prepared from the corresponding metal salts, hydrazine hydrate and phenyl acetic acid. This was characterized by hydrazine, metal analyses, infrared spectral and thermal analyses. Using appropriate annealing conditions, Mn0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 nanoparticles of average size 11 nm were synthesized by thermal treatment of the precursor. The nanoparticles were characterized by using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, high-resolution transmission electron microscope, and selected area electron diffraction techniques.
