Abstract

Very pure micronized zeolite-A (Z-A) and its Ag-exchanged form (Z-Ag) were prepared from purified Egyptian kaolin (K) using microwave irradiation at low temperature. Microstructures of the synthesized material were characterized using FTIR, XRD, SEM and EDS elemental analysis. The weight percent of silver exchanged onto the zeolite structure was determined by atomic absorption spectra. The vitro cytotoxic results of Z-Ag against lung carcinoma cell line (A549), human hepatocellular carcinoma cell line (HePG2), colon cell line carcinoma (HCT116), and human Caucasian breast adenocarcinoma (MCF7) were reported. The results were promising and revealed that the Ag-substituted micronized zeolite-A can be used as novel antitumor drug.
