Abstract

The performance of composites reinforced with natural fibers increases depending on the nature of the fibers and the type of surface treatment applied to the fibers. To improve the interfacial properties of the naturel fibers, one of natural fibers was selected (Wood Flour (WF)) and we introduced Graphene oxide (GO). The hydrogen bonding interactions between the Wood Flour and the GO facilitate the dispersion of the latter on the surface of the fibers to gives composite fibers (WF/GO). Several characterization techniques including Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) have been used to study the structural, thermal stability and morphological properties of the prepared hybrid composite. Morphological analysis revealed that the applied surface treatment of the Wood Flour (WF) was efficient where a good distribution of the GO sheets on the fiber interface is detected.
