Abstract

Hexaconazole (HEZ) is a triazole fungicide with low water solubility, which restricts its use in agricultural production. In this work, HEZ/hydroxypropyl-γ-cyclodextrin inclusion complex nanofibers (HEZ/HPγCD-IC-NF) were successfully prepared to improve the antifungal activity of HEZ. Physicochemical properties and antifungal activity of HEZ/HPγCD-IC-NF were characterized and evaluated by several key technologies. The results confirmed that HEZ was completely encapsulated in the hydroxypropyl-γ-cyclodextrin cavity, and the thermal stability and water solubility of HEZ could be enhanced by preparing HEZ/HPγCD-IC-NF. Importantly, the antifungal activity of HEZ against Botrytis cinerea was significantly enhanced by the preparation of HEZ/HPγCD-IC-NF (1.92 times to that of HEZ). Furthermore, HEZ/HPγCD-IC-NF also showed sustained release characteristics. This research attempts to develop a new formulation based on insoluble fungicides to reduce the dosage of fungicides and promote the development of green agriculture.
