Abstract
Abstract Rare Earth Molybdates, R 2(MoO4)3 (R = rare-earth ions), in their β’ (ferroelectric) forms, have many interesting properties which can be utilized for industrial applications. As not much have been reported on some members of the family, we have prepared ferroelectric samples of pure Sm2(MoO4)3, Gd2(MoO4)3, Dy2(MoO4)3 and mixed rare earth molybdates by quenching them to room temperature from their high temperature phase. X-ray, thermal and dielectric properties of the compounds have been studied extensively to understand the existence of some interesting properties in them.
