Abstract
Sickle cell anemia and thalassemia are diagnosed by analysis of fetal blood obtained by fetoscopy or placental aspiration, or by examination of fibroblast DNA obtained by amniocentesis. Other disorders such as hemophilia and chronic granulomatous disease are also identifiable in utero.
