Abstract
Last fall, the U.S. Senate proposed eliminating all 2004 funding for NOAA's Space Environment Center (SEC), but fortunately for the world's premier space weather forecasting center and its myriad customers, the Senate did not get its way. When the full Congress passed the final budget on 22 January, the Center's budget for the year was restored—at least partially.
