Abstract

The Carnegie left Reykjavik at noon on July 27, 1928, going out under her own power against a head‐wind. By 14h the entrance point of the bay was cleared. Heading down toward Cape Farewell, good progress was made for the first four days. On July 31 the winds became unfavorable, and on the next day they went calm and it was necessary to operate the engine.
