Abstract
Effects of feeding frequency on food utilization and surfacing activity were studied in Channa striatus. Frequency of feeding significantly influenced all the energetics components except absorption efficiency which remained at about 90.4% at all feeding frequencies. Under culture conditions, feeding C. striatus once a day will be economical. Frequent feeding does not affect digestion but affects the rate and efficiency of conversion, probably because of excess surfacing activity and specific dynamic action.
