Abstract

CGEEE 2020 was organized by Hong Kong Chemical, Biological & Environmental Engineering Society (HKCBEES) and Environment and Agriculture Society (EAS). Due to the spread of covid-19 in the world, the epidemic situation in various countries is complicated, and the entry-exit management of the local government is strict. Most authors chose the online presentation. Even if the conference was postponed, there were still many unstable factors affecting the conference. Considering the safety of the authors and facilitating more authors to participate in the meeting to achieve better communication effect, conference committee finally decided to hold the 2020 3rd International Conference on Green Energy and Environment Engineering (CGEEE 2020) as virtual conference during July 22-24, 2020, which was a great success.CGEEE 2020 is one of the leading international conferences for presenting novel and fundamental advances in the fields of green energy and environment engineering. It also serves to foster communication among researchers and practitioners working in a wide variety of scientific areas with a common interest in improving green energy and environment engineering related techniques. Prof. Jae K. Park from University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA has been invited to do the welcome address and also given his keynote speech “Distortion of Green Energy and Environmental Issues by Deliberate Abuse of Facts”; Prof. Jin keun Kim from Jeju National University, Jeju, Korea has been invited to do the opening remarks and also given his keynote speech “Smart Water Pipeline Network Management in Korea”; Prof. Yu Hong from Beijing Forestry University, China has shared her keynote speech “The Use of Microalgae for Coupling Wastewater Treatment with High-valued Products Production”; Prof. Marco Casini from SAPIENZA University of Rome, Italy has given his keynote speech “Robotics and Automated Systems in Construction: Challenges and Opportunities for the Building Industry”; Prof. Miwako Hosoda from Seisa University, Tokyo, Japan also presented her keynote speech “Condition of a Sustainable Coexistence between People and Nature”.The meeting was held online very smoothly with the tool “ZOOM”, many researchers, engineers, academicians as well as industrial professionals from all over the world have presented their research results and development activities. Each author had 12 minutes for presentation and 3 minutes for question and answer. During the question time, the author can use the “Raise Hand” function or “chat” function to ask questions. There were six sessions for presentations: Wastewater Treatment, Environmental Management and Construction Science, Renewable Energy and Power Engineering, Environmental Chemistry and Groundwater Engineering, Climatology and Pollution Ecology and Agricultural Science. It is a golden opportunity for the students, researchers and engineers to interact with the experts and specialists to get their advice or consultation on technical matters, sales and marketing strategies. This conference proceeding presents a selection from papers submitted to the conference from universities, research institutes and industries. All of the papers were subjected to peer-review by conference committee members and international reviewers. The papers selected depended on their quality and their relevancy to the conference. The volume tends to present to the readers the advances in green energy and environment engineering and various related areas, such as energy transformation from renewable energy system (RES) to grid, artificial intelligence and machine learning studies for RESs and applications, control techniques for RESs, control technologies, grid interactive systems used in hybrid RESs, performance analysis of RESs, environmental dynamics, hydrology, meteorology, physical oceanography etc…We would like to thank all the authors who have contributed to this volume and also to the organizing committees, reviewers, speakers, chairpersons, sponsors and all the conference participants for their support to CGEEE2020.Prof. Jae K.
