Abstract

It is our great pleasure to welcome all of you to the International Conference on Smart and Innovative Agriculture (ICoSIA 2020), November 4–5, 2020, virtually from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. ICoSIA is dedicated to issue related to smart and innovative agriculture. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the conference committees made decision to hold a virtual conference instead to ensure every participant’s personal safety.ICoSIA 2020 provides an ideal academic platform for researchers to present the latest research findings and describe emerging technologies and directions in agriculture. ICoSIA 2020 has received 80 submissions in total throughout eight countries such as Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Mexico, Russia, and the United States of America. Based on the results of a stringent and austere review process, 59 papers have been selected.The virtual conference is highlighted by four distinguished speakers. Each keynote speech is about 30 minutes of presentation and 15 minutes of Question-and-Answer session. The first keynote speaker is Professor Byoung-Kwan Cho from Chungnam National University, Daejeon, South Korea delivered his speech with title ‘Application of Spectral Imaging for Safety Inspection of Fresh-Cut Vegetables’. The second keynote speaker is Professor Yu-Pin Lin from National Taiwan University, Taiwan, delivered his speech with title ‘Conceptualization of Integrating Knowledge Blockchain and Big Data Analysis in Agriculture’. The third keynote speaker is Assistant Professor Na Lu from Chiba University, Japan delivered her speech with title ‘Light Environment and Plant Growth in Plant Factories’. The fourth keynote speaker is Professor Shau-Chun Wang from National Chung Cheng University, Taiwan delivered his speech with title ‘The Applications of Plasmonics Biosensor and Bamboo Char Filtration to the Prevention of Nervous Necrosis Virus Infection in Grouper Farming Ponds’. Each regular oral presenter has about 12 minutes of presentation and 3 minutes of Question-and-Answer.The conference is organized in 5 parallel sessions under the topics of: Agricultural Economics and Marketing, Environmental Management, Precision Nutrition Technology, Smart and Precision Farming and Sustainable Food Production. Virtual format conference aims to promote research and developmental activities in agriculture and environmental sciences, providing an excellent academic platform for researchers to exhibit their current research works, findings and depict emerging technologies in agriculture among researchers, engineers, students, and practitioners from all over the world. The conference may also be a stepstone for joint projects and research for the participants that seek collaborator across the globe in the future to develop more sustainable agriculture technologyWe are all in tough times and cannot do our meetings in a traditional manner, yet we are still able to discuss and enlighten our minds, also collaborate with other researchers as well as colleagues across the world. We do hope you find this conference can be another step stone for your future career, and for the development of sustainable agriculture that not only cultivates our soil but also our virtue as human beings.This conference cannot be separated from the committee who has prepared this event well. We would like to express our gratitude to all those who have supported the holding of this conference. Today, the world is in a pandemic situation, which requires us to adapt to the current situation. The pandemic has changed many habits of human life, but we believe that this situation cannot diminish our intellectual ability to always contribute knowledge to the world.
