Abstract

The volume contains a collection of articles on pressing issues of logging, forest transport, the use of forest logging complexes, transport logistics and integrated use of forest products. The research results presented in the volume were discussed at the All-Russian scientific-practical conference with international participation “Actual issues of transport in the forest sector” held at St. Petersburg State Forest Technical University on November 28-29, 2019.The articles discuss innovative technologies for the use of logging complexes in forest areas with different environmental conditions, new materials for the construction of forest roads in various conditions, technologies for collecting and processing harvesting residuals and methods for their rational use.Several methods have been proposed to increase technological efficiency of logging operations and minimize environmental risks associated with the harvesting and transport of forest products. The information on the soil conditions for the use of forest equipment has been analysed. The developments in the area of processing of waste from logging operations have been presented. Original results on the interaction of the moving parts of forest machines with forest soils and surfaces of forest roads have been presented. A model of the consequences of the passage of forestry equipment on a dry road surface has been presented. Methods have been proposed for the construction of forest roads in difficult soil and hydrological conditions and on soils with low bearing capacity. The articles published in the volume will be of interest to specialists working in the transport, logging and timber processing industries. The organizing committee of the conference thanks the staff of the Department of Industrial Transport of SPbSFTU who participated in the organization of the conference, as well as a leading specialist of the Congress Department of SPbSFTU, Vadim S. Pavlov, and an assistant professor of the Department of Technological Processes and Machines of the Forestry Complex of SPbSFTU, Ivan V. Bacherikov, who made a valuable contribution to the volume by handling and editing the submitted papers.Associate Professor of the Department of Industrial Transport, St. Petersburg State Technical University, Ph.D. Gleb V.
