Preface

Abstract

The 5th International Symposium on Infrastructure Development (ISID 2020) was held in Makassar, Indonesia on 28-29 August 2020. The aim of the ISID is to promote scientific advancement and technological progress in infrastructure development and other related fields. It is further intended to provide an international forum for the academic and technical activities, cooperation, opportunity and fellowship among researchers and engineers, and to exchange experience of infrastructure development.ISID 2020 is organized by Civil Engineering Department and Environmental Engineering Department, Hasanuddin University, Indonesia in collaboration with Centre for Innovative Planning and Development, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. In this session, the symposium hosts 100 researchers and engineers in related fields to share their great experience on coping with various problems in infrastructure development. Initially, this symposium was planned to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. However, in view of the spread of COVID-19, the organizer had taken multiple precaution measures to prevent spreading the virus among the public. In addition, due to the uncertainty when the pandemic will end; therefore, oral presentations were switch to remote presentation through Zoom Video Meeting with 7 breakout rooms. Each presenting author is allocated a 10-minute presentation and a 5-minute question and answer session moderated by room chairman.
