Preface

Abstract

We are grateful to finally be able to present the proceedings of the Life and Environmental Sciences Academics Forum (LEAF). The current proceedings consists of written contribution from a number of presentations during LEAF meeting held on November 1st, 2018. However, there is also some articles from the previous year’s event held on August 18–19th, 2017. Both conferences were organized by the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI), and held in Depok, Indonesia. The theme of the essence of bioscience’s contribution to sustainable development and the role of geosciences to solve critical environmental problems were being highlighted in these two conferences. LEAF serves the scientist fellows, academics, researchers as well as university students a platform to communicate and exchange their research activities and ideas in the form of oral presentations. The conference particularly encourages a fruitful and intense discussion among the participants to build a scientist community and a possible collaboration to solve environmental problems, locally and internationally.Nearly one hundred participants have registered for the events, submitted their abstracts, and presented their papers at the conference. In the 2018 event, two Keynote Speakers from Japan and the UK have shared their most insightful and valuable speeches with the audience. Most recent scientific researches known in the field of biosciences and geosciences were presented and discussed. After a thorough reviewing process, 75 papers have been accepted for publication and will be issued in this conference proceedings. All these papers maintained the high expectancy for excellent quality scientific papers to meet the standard of this conference and were subjected to a double-blind peer-review process by experts in the related field. These proceedings present an excellent source for scientists to be an exceptional reference. Hopefully, this volume will stimulate the advance studies and scientific experiments in the future.Finally, we would like to extend our great appreciation for the tremendous work of the organizing committee, for organizing the event most professionally and efficiently possible. The organizing committee has worked very hard and successfully delivered outstanding events. We also appreciate all the delegates from different countries, showing a high level of international interest and acknowledge the author for their contributions. These two successful initial meetings will continue with the publication of the 2019‘s proceedings that we are currently preparing and start to establish an excellent plan for 2020‘s event with confidence.List of Editors are available in this pdf.
