Preface

Abstract

The 5th International Conference on Water Resource and Environment (WRE 2019) was held successfully at Macau University of Science and Technology in Macao from July 16-19, 2019. The technical program comprised one plenary session with 4 plenary speeches, twelve parallel oral sessions including 22 invited speeches and 114 regular oral presentations, and one poster session with 44 posters.Water resource and environment are key elements guaranteeing the sustainability of societies. The WRE conference series aims to provide an academic platform for researchers and scholars to present and discuss their latest findings about water resource and environment. WRE 2019 gathered over 260 participants from 23 different countries and areas. The main subjects of the conference were Water Recourses and Hydrology, Wastewater Treatment, Water Treatment and Purification, Water Quality Assessment, Water Environment and Ecology, Groundwater, Water Pollution, Environmental Science and Chemistry.This volume records the proceedings of WRE 2019 and contains 171 manuscripts that in accordance with the Journal’s Peer Review Policy were strictly selected based on originality, significance, relevance and contribution to the area after being peer-reviewed.The Organizing Committee would like to thank all the authors who contributed to WRE 2019 and also the Technical Program Committee members and reviewers who gave their valuable comments and suggestions for improving the manuscripts.The 6th International Conference on Water Resource and Environment (WRE 2020) will be held in Tokyo, Japan in August.
