Abstract

With rapid advancement in science and technology, come responsibility in preserving and ensure sustainability of the process involve by utilizing green technology concept. The core main point of green technology encompassing methods and materials that continuously evolve ether it is from technique to generate energy to non-toxic way of cleaning products. From this concept; green technology aims to achieve its goal to ensure sustainability, reusability, innovation and viability without compromising the ability of future generations to enhance further. The approach of green technology aid in developing products, materials, equipment, and systems without depleting the resources and conserving natural environment that minimizes and reduces the negative impact of human activities.From energy harnessing to the management of waste, the approach of green technology has been implement with sustainability as the main point. From environmental, polymer, food and agricultural based technologies and product, bioengineering technology, process design, integration and optimization is the crux of mediating green technology concept. For the success of green technology, it involved the synergy of multidimensional aspect that involve continuous research and development in various field. Not mainly in science and technology, it also involves political and economic overview to further enhance the concept to the mainstream.With this in mind, the theme of this paper including environmental, sustainable and clean technologies, bioengineering (bioprocess, biocatalyst, bioproduct), food and agricultural based technology and products, polymer, process designs, integration and optimization, renewable energy, modelling and safety and health.Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Chemical & Bioengineering Technology (UniKL MICET), Melaka is a higher educational institution that specializes in chemical-based engineering technology education. It is fully owned by Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), located in Taboh Naning, Vendor City, Alor Gajah, Melaka, approximately 35 km away from Melaka town which was declared as “Historical City” by UNESCO on 7th July 2008.UniKL MICET was established in 2002 and was grouped under Universiti Kuala Lumpur, under Universiti Teknikal MARA Sdn Bhd. UniKL MICET is the pioneer in providing hands-on chemical based technology education in Malaysia. The Chemical and Bioengineering Technology programmes offered by UniKL MICET made it one of the earliest technical universities in this country. An accomplishment of this university is its up-to-date and modern equipment used in the chemical technology field.Being Malaysia’s first technical University, UniKL MICET is set up with complete and up-to-date equipment in the field of Chemical Engineering Technology. It has 43 labs; among them are Chemical Analysis Lab, Basic Chemical Lab, Chemical Technology Lab, Preparation Lab, Polymer Test and Assessment Lab, Latex Processing Lab, Food Analysis and Processing Lab, Computer Labs, Pilot Plant and Water Treatment Lab with hands on learning. Campus facilities available such as hostel, sport complex, Outdoor sports, Gymnasium, Surau, Student Café, resource Centre, student recreational areas, Wi-Fi as well as public transportation (MARA Liner).I hope that this special issue published by Materials Today: Proceeding will be of vast use and the source of reference for students, teachers, industry, government and non-governmental organization and venture capital for selection of best materials in scientific, technical and development of green technology. Many participants from Malaysian premier institution and research organization as well as foreign institution shared their opinion, idea and innovation.
