Preface

Abstract

This chapter is the preface to the book Logic, Methodology, and Philosophy of Science IX . It constitutes the proceedings of the 9th International Congress of Logic, Methodology and Philosophy of Science arranged by the Division of Logic, Methodology and Philosophy of Science of the International Union of History and Philosophy of Science. The logical sections of the Congress also constituted the European Logic Colloquium ’91. The Congress took place in Uppsala, Sweden, from August 7 to August 14, 1991. It was held at the invitation of the Swedish National Committee for Logic, Methodology and Philosophy under the auspices of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, the Royal Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities, and the University of Uppsala. The chapter contains the text, sometimes revised, of most of the invited speakers.
