Abstract

Dear colleagues!International Conference on Materials Physics, Building Structures and Technologies in Construction, Industrial and Production Engineering (MPCPE-2020) has been held successfully on April 27-28, 2020 at Vladimir, Russian Federation. MPCPE-2020 aims to bring together leading academic scientists, researchers and industry experts to exchange and share their experiences and investigations on all aspects of civil and structural engineering, including the theory and design of buildings and structures, functional and construction materials in construction, industrial and production engineering, and also applications of physics in the high-technology industry. The conference was organized by Vladimir State University named after Alexander and Nikolay Stoletovs in partnership with Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (St. Petersburg, Russian Federation) and Research Institute of Building Physics of Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences (Moscow, Russian Federation). Founded in 1958, Vladimir State University has become a large scientific and educational institution in the center of Russia. The university team has made significant progress in the field of building structures and new materials for their manufacture. The beginning of research in this direction was laid in the 60s of the XX century as part of the scientific school of reinforced wooden structures. Currently, the main area of research of the university team is devoted to the creation of composite structures on a wooden and metal base. Largely, these studies determined the topics of the conference.Due to the pandemic-related nationwide lockdowns and other coordinated restrictive measures, the organizers decided to hold a conference in a virtual format with the organization of access for all participants to the presented reports with comprehensive discussion for ensuring the event at a high scientific level. The event was held online using the MS Teams communication platform for synchronous conversation. The conference was organized as a large-scale online meeting of participants in topical sessions with the opportunity for speakers to provide regulated demonstrations of slides and video files according to the approved technical program. The accepted rules included a 10-minute real-time virtual presentation and a 5-minute time limit for a Q&A session for each keynote speaker. This format provided an opportunity to discuss the presented scientific results and was supplemented by Q&A sessions in common live chat and direct communication in local chats. The geography of researchers who submitted their manuscripts for publication was quite wide and amounted to 12 countries with a total number of more than 400 registered participants. Submitted manuscripts were carefully reviewed through a blind peer-review process involving at least two reviewers per full-paper submission. All the accepted papers prepared by participants of the MPCPE-2020 has been published in these Proceedings. Thus, this volume presents the most insightful and substantial investigations in the theory and practice of building materials, structures, and technologies. As editors, we would like to thank all participants for the high scientific level of the presented contributions and the interest to the conference, and also the members of the Program Committee and the reviewers for a detailed analysis and constructive discussion of the submitted materials.Conference ChairmanNikolai Vatin, D.Sc., Professor,Peter the Great St. Petersburg PolytechnicUniversity, Saint Petersburg, Russia.
