Abstract

The aim ofthis study was tomap the spectrum ofmicroorganisms belonging tothe genus Acinetobacter indomestic animals with aspecific focus onthe prevalence ofAcinetobacter pseudolwoffii. Additionally, thesusceptibility ofisolates toantimicrobial agents was determined. Inthe period from January 1, 2014, toAugust 31, 2015, atotal of9544samples originating from gross lesions and pathological processes ofanimals exhibiting clinical symptoms ofthe disease were examined across 41districts inthe Czech Republic. The examinations were carried out using culture methods involving meat-peptone blood agar and Endo agar under aerobic conditions atatemperature of37±1°C for 18-24hours. Isolates were confirmed using molecular phenotypic method MALDI-TOFMSwith the MBT Compass Library Revision L 2020 covering 3239species/entries (9607MSP) from Bruker Daltonics company. Out ofthe 108isolates (prevalence 1.13%), 14species ofAcinetobacter spp. were identified, with 5isolates remaining unclassified asspecies. A. pseudolwoffii was the predominant species isolated in25cases (prevalence 0.26%). Antimicrobial susceptibility was determined for 12antimicrobials bythedisc diffusion method, with A. pseudolwoffii isolates exhibiting the lowest susceptibility toceftazidime (32%) and co-trimoxazole (60%).
