Abstract

Created within the French Interministerial land Transport Research and Innovation Programme (PREDIT), PREDIM is a research and experimentation platform for the development of multimodal information. It is a national operation of reciprocal support intended for transport authorities and more widely for any party willing to improve the complementarity of the different means of transport - both private and collective - through a suitable information system. This complementarity exists when users can access reliable information that enables them to choose the most suitable way of moving. Thereby, it offers an alternative to the use of private vehicle for transportation. These new multimodal information services presuppose to cross data from networks and services, to organize them and finally to disseminate information through different means. They involve an efficient co-ordination between different actors (Government, regional authorities, transport operators, industry, service companies, researchers, etc.). The framework law regarding Inland Transport in France (LOTI) provides for the setting up of such services.
