Abstract
Transfusion of packed red blood cells (pRBC) is an effective strategy for the management of severe anemia in pregnancy. Although rare, transfusion does incur risk and reactions can be severe. We sought to investigate rates of pRBC transfusion in patients with early (< 34 weeks), severe preeclampsia (sPREX) and to determine factors associated with transfusion in this population.
