Abstract

This paper proposes the novel predictive valley-peak current control for the dual active bridge (DAB) converter to improve dynamic responses. Theoretically, the reference current can be achieved in one switching cycle with this control strategy. Since the inductor valley and peak currents are both controlled, the predictive valley-peak current control strategy offers a fast over-current switch protection, and meanwhile eliminates the possible saturation of the high-frequency transformer. In this paper, detailed analyses of stability properties of the predictive current control are presented. Further, this paper discusses the influences of the measured deviations on the proposed predictive current control strategy. Finally, A DAB converter is modeled in Matlab/Simulink. The theoretical analyses are confirmed by the simulation results.
