Abstract

A novel predictive direct torque control (DTC) based on cost function for doubly fed induction generator is proposed in this paper. Finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC) predicts the torque and rotor flux for the next duration of switching and chooses and applies the best voltage vector for adjusting the electromagnetic torque and the rotor flux in their reference values. This paper considers the electromagnetic torque ripple minimization in FCS-MPC method by adding a term for reducing the surface of the electromagnetic torque ripple in each period without effecting to the dynamic response. Simulation results for conventional FCS-MPC method and novel predictive direct torque control are presented and compared with each other to confirm the effectiveness of proposed method.
