Abstract

The prediction of the differential mode (DM) noise resonances of a switching mode power supply (SMPS) is important before prototyping. It requires an appropriate model of the SMPS which considers various frequency-dependent effects. This paper explains the influence of resonances on the conducted DM noise of SMPS by using a new model in the frequency domain. The paths of the DM currents before and after the SMPS can be described by this model. The simulation model has been verified using experimental results, whereby the simulation and experimental results are in good agreement.
