Abstract

This paper deals with simulation of an electrified railway AC traction system to predict the audio frequency conducted emissions in the return current. Those conducted emissions are obtained for evaluating the compliance of the traction system with the signaling system. In order to accurately simulate the system the methods to model each key subsystem is elaborated in this paper. Simulation results are verified by the experiments with the limits of one type of signaling system, called UM71 track circuit (1.7 kHz–2.6 kHz), which the traction system should comply with. Moreover factors impacting the level of emission are also discussed in this paper.
